Skin concerns · Nanaimo

Your skin is more than a concern to correct.

Origin offers personalized, holistic facials in Nanaimo for acne-prone skin, post-acne marks, pigmentation, dryness, sensitivity, visible ageing and facial tension. Every treatment begins with the whole picture—not a preset protocol.

What we work with

The concern may be visible. The cause is rarely one-dimensional.

Your skin responds to more than products. Hormones, stress, sleep, environment, daily habits and the health of the skin barrier can all influence what appears on the surface.

Carly considers those connections before choosing products, modalities and massage techniques. The goal is not to force your skin into submission. It is to understand what it needs, work progressively and create a plan that feels realistic beyond the treatment room.

01

Acne-prone skin, congestion & post-acne marks.

Breakouts are not a sign that your skin needs to be scrubbed, stripped or punished. Carly looks at congestion, inflammation, oil flow, barrier health, current products and the patterns surrounding your skin before deciding how much intervention is appropriate.

Your facial may include thoughtful exfoliation, extractions, high frequency, LED support, calming masks or barrier-focused care. For lingering post-acne marks and uneven texture, treatment is progressive: supporting healthy renewal while protecting the skin from the irritation that can prolong discolouration.

Often suited to: The Revive or The Craft · Begin with a consult if breakouts are persistent or your routine feels confusing

02

Pigmentation, dark spots & uneven tone.

Uneven pigmentation can follow sun exposure, inflammation, hormonal change or previous breakouts—and treating it too aggressively can sometimes create more irritation. Origin takes a measured approach based on the type of pigment present and how resilient your skin is.

Carly may combine professional exfoliation, targeted ingredients, LED and home-care guidance to support a brighter, more even-looking complexion over time. Daily sun protection and consistency matter as much as the treatment itself, so your plan extends beyond a single facial.

Often suited to: The Craft · A Personal Consult is recommended for a longer-term pigmentation plan

03

Dryness, dehydration & a compromised barrier.

Skin that feels tight, rough, flaky or suddenly reactive may need less—not more. Carly looks beyond the obvious lack of moisture to understand whether your skin is dehydrated, lipid-dry, over-exfoliated or struggling to hold onto what it needs.

Treatment focuses on replenishment, comfort and restoring resilience. Products and modalities are selected to reduce unnecessary stimulation while supporting the skin barrier, and your home routine can be simplified so it continues the work without becoming another source of stress.

Often suited to: The Revive · Begin with a Personal Consult if most products sting or your skin has changed unexpectedly

04

Ageing skin, fine lines & loss of firmness.

Ageing is not a flaw to erase. Origin’s approach is to support how your skin functions as it changes—working with hydration, circulation, cellular renewal, muscle tension and the strength of the barrier to help it look rested, supple and visibly supported.

Depending on your skin, Carly may layer professional exfoliation, red light, high-performance masks and intentional facial massage. The treatment is designed around your priorities, without making your face something that needs to be “fixed.”

Often suited to: The Craft or The Restorative · Regular treatments and a considered home routine create the most meaningful progression

05

Puffiness, facial tension & sculpting.

The face holds more than expression. Jaw clenching, stress, shallow breathing and daily posture can all show up as tightness, heaviness or puffiness through the face, neck and shoulders.

Through lymphatic techniques, myofascial work and slow, intentional facial massage, Carly works to encourage fluid movement and release held tension. The visible result may be a more rested, defined appearance; the felt result is often a sense of space through the whole face.

Often suited to: The Restorative · Ideal when massage, release and visible de-puffing are the priority

06

Sensitivity & redness-prone skin.

Reactive skin needs to feel safe before it can be asked to do more. Carly begins by identifying possible triggers, examining the condition of the barrier and understanding what your skin currently tolerates.

Your facial is adapted in real time, with gentle cleansing, supportive hydration, calming products and carefully selected modalities. If your symptoms suggest a condition requiring diagnosis or medical care, Carly will always work within scope and encourage the appropriate professional support.

Often suited to: The Revive · A Personal Consult is helpful when sensitivity is persistent or your current routine feels impossible to navigate

Questions, considered

Before your first facial.

Which facial is best for acne-prone skin?

The best treatment depends on whether your skin is congested, inflamed, sensitized or managing lingering post-acne marks. The Revive is a thoughtful starting point for many new clients, while The Craft allows more time for layered techniques and progressive work. If breakouts are persistent or your routine is complicated, begin with Your Skin’s Origin Personal Consult.

Can a facial remove acne scars?

Facials may support post-acne discolouration, surface texture and overall skin health, but deeper or indented acne scars often require medical or advanced corrective procedures. Carly will be honest about what is achievable within Origin’s scope and can help you build a supportive plan without promising scar removal.

Can I book if my skin is sensitive?

Yes. Every Origin facial is customized and can be adapted for sensitivity, dehydration or a compromised barrier. Please share any diagnosed conditions, allergies, medications and recent procedures before treatment so Carly can determine what is appropriate.

How often should I have a facial?

There is no universal schedule. Some clients benefit from a short series of progressive treatments; others visit seasonally or whenever their skin needs support. Carly will recommend a rhythm based on your goals, skin response, home care, time and budget.

What is lymphatic facial massage?

Lymphatic facial massage uses gentle, directional movement to encourage fluid flow through the face and neck. At Origin it may be combined with myofascial and sculpting techniques to support puffiness, visible definition and the release of facial tension. The Restorative is the most massage-focused treatment.

Do I need a consultation before booking?

Not always. You can book a facial directly and Carly will assess your skin at the beginning of the appointment. Choose a consultation first when you want a comprehensive home-care routine, a longer-term treatment plan or more time to understand persistent concerns.
